Stalking & The Highlands

Stalking and The Highlands go hand in hand.
To many, the sport of Stalking the Red Deer epitomizes the rugged power and beauty of Scotland's nature and wildlife. The Stalk is challenging, often without even a shot taken. But nobody will forget the hours of patient waiting in a cold burn or on a steep, blowy hillside waiting to spy the breathtaking beast. Magnificent. But Stalking is not just a sport.

It is the essential ingredient in ensuring the long term sustainability of the Deer Population. Without population management the herds would explode in size, in breed and import disease. They would procreate at a faster rate than the needy younger animals could cope and eventually the herd would wither and die out.
With this in mind, and the interests of promoting forestation, the Scottish Government by law mandates Deer culling via the Deer Commission.
